There is a new Match Maker in the Kash Karnival as part of the latest release for Android mobile devices. No, sorry, not the kind of match maker that will find you the perfect soul mate or cuddle buddy, it’s definitely not the next Tinder, but it should give you something to do with your hands on those lonely nights.
Match Maker has fast become one of the most favoured games within the Kash Karnival - for good reason. This gem-matching puzzle game is loads of fun, easy to play and very addictive, go and see for yourself. The preset is that you, the player, join Edgar and Ella as they build Moji-Droids and try to eliminate the viruses in the process.
The new version, which is currently only available on Android mobile devices (don’t worry, Facebook and iOS will get it soon enough as well!), has been revamped from the original to create an experience defined more by player actions than by randomly generated possibilities. It sees new features such as a new system for viruses, the Nano-Rotator, Dark Mojium, the construction of Power-Gems, and the Ultra Power-Gem – the Mojium Annihilator!
The coloured gems, known as Mojium, each represent body parts of the Moji-Droids and in every level you have a set number of moves for which to clear a given amount of each Mojium from the board to pass; which in turn builds the Moji-Droid. If you run out of moves before you clear the necessary Mojium, you lose! You match 3 or more of like-coloured Mojium together in a cluster to clear them from the board. One of the new features means that when you match more than 3 Mojium, you will construct a Power-Gem, but more on that later, I have to maintain some mystery after all!
One of the main villains in this game, are the viruses. These critters will appear as Mojium with a number displayed on them, and yes, that is a countdown to doom! Well, not so much anymore. In the old version, letting a virus reach 0 without clearing it meant game over. In the new version, they instead become Infected Mojium. Infected Mojium are an obstacle stuck in place that can no longer be rotated or cleared – quite the nuisance, don’t let them accumulate.
There’s also Dark Mojium. These pests can’t be cleared by matching. They can be rotated however and will still fall as other matches are made. You can only clear them off the board by getting them to the bottom.
I suppose now I should mention how you make the matches. As you will see from the image to the right, the Mojium are arranged in hexagonal grid. You match colours together by selecting a group of three to rotate. Until you pass level 5, you can only rotate counter-clockwise, but thereafter you can choose the direction. Each rotation will take up 1 move, whether you make a match or not. Sometimes, it’s more strategic to make a move that won’t necessarily give you a match, but sets up for a better combo in the next move!
Then you have the Nano-Rotator, new to this version! Once you pass level 10, you will get one of these special little tools every level, randomly placed into the grid with the Mojium. It can be rotated in the groups of three to be moved into a strategic place, but, if you select it directly, you can rotate all the surrounding Mojium in a bigger wheel. Each Nano-Rotator only has 3 uses however before it goes bye bye.
Remember that mystery I spoke of? Well it’s time for the big reveal. As aforementioned, when you match more than 3 Mojium in a cluster, you will construct a Power-Gem, but what are they? Well I’ve compiled a neat little list for you below. Just remember, matching the cluster will only create the Power-Gem, you need to match it again to activate it!
4 Mojium – Mojium Strike
Strikes down the entire vertical line of Mojium.
5 Mojium – Atomic Mojium
Clears all the Mojium of that colour off the board.
6 Mojium – Virus Blaster
Explodes and clears all the Mojium in its little radius, as well as destroys all virus off the board.
Don’t forget the 3 passive Power-Gems, which carry over from the old version and randomly appear.
Can be interchanged to match with any colour.
You can select another Mojium to swap places with.
You can select any one Mojium to destroy (Do not destroy Power-Gems, it won’t activate them and you’ll lose them).
The almighty finale! The Ultra Power-Gem, the Mojium Annihilator. As you make great matches you start to build up towards obtaining gemlets. Get 4 gemlets and you’ll have yourself 1 Ultra Power-Gem. Use this bad boy to clear every Mojium from the board – you’ll get the points for every single one!
There you have it, the all new Match Maker. If you haven’t already high tailed it out of this blog because you’re so anxious to play, it can only be because your mental imagining of my voice is on point and it’s sultry and amazing. I bet you’re about ready to go and play now, I know I am, so I won’t keep you.
